During the Bolivian photo workshop in April many of the participants were photographing the children of the country. It’s quite natural, they are all over, they are curious and they both represent the future of Bolivia as well as all too often the despair of the country. Many children live in utterly poverty and have no prospect of improving the situation in life. Bolivia is one of the poorest countries in the world and as in developing countries in general often the children suffer the most. But at the same time they also represent the hope. They are the next generation and maybe the ones to change the country to the better. They are still not held down by bitterness and hopelessness. Instead they meet the world with a smile and playfulness even when their situation looks the worst. Christian Thelin was one of the participants who captured this beauty, playfulness and hope of the children of Bolivia with sensibility and passion.

These photos invoke a great deal of emotion to the viewer. Children will always know hope until they are taught otherwise.
