Photography is a constant travel to new places

Cuban Diary

There are many ways to make a photographic diary. When Otto von Münchow from Blue Hour Photo Workshops travels to Cuba he makes a daily visual diary. It’s a very personal and self-reflective view on his travel in a country he has visited many times. In addition he impose very strict limitations for his photography. He shoots with a point-and-shoot camera with film, and he only allows himself to capture one frame each day. Each picture is meant to capture his daily life while travelling in Cuba. It’s a project about his relationship with Cuba and less about Cuba in itself. The one picture a day is supposed to capture the essence of that day in some way or form. The restrictions are a way to open his senses and to make him see the world in a different perspective than he usually does when photographing.
